Hi to everybody...woke to a beautiful clear blue sky and discovered 8 birds in the tree top!...have been shopping after bubble bath and massages, and feel ninety after all the exercise we've had now...:) Arrived home yesterday at 9.50 after catching the 7.30 coach instead of the 8.30 because we were very tired by then...had a very good day. The weather was more than kind to us...it rained while we were having dinner between 5.15 and 7.15 briefly and didn't rain again...:) We did arrive on time at 11.50 which I'd worked out left us tons of time to get to the Tate Modern for a relaxed lunch then in to see the Gaugin exhibition entry time being between 2 and 2.30...the Tate is roughly three miles away from Victoria and we decided to take the bus as we had bus passes. Met up with our son who arrived just as we did at the coach station...that decision went totally wrong...we got the wrong buses, and end up walking a mile and a half to get to the Tate and with only enough time to swallow a muffin and an apple juice (we had breakfast at 7) and then had to go the exhibition...deep sighs...Anyway, we wandered all through the exhibition before all of us were worn out...about an hour and fifteen minutes we managed...What was so tiring was that they let so many people in, it was a battle to get to see the actual pictures and it is a very large exhibition...too large, we all thought with some doodles and drawings that really didn't need to be there...his paintings should have sufficed...they were interesting to see and found his tones very pleasing to the eye in lots of them...it was boiling hot in there too with so many people, and the Tate itself was jammed packed...first time we've ever been there on a Saturday and it will be the last...LOL...The sun brought everybody in London out as well...:))
We made our way back to Victoria afterwards and ambled along Buckingham Palace Road to try to find somewhere to eat as we'd had barely anything at all all day...Ray did squeeze in a carrot cake when we stopped for a coffee after the exhibition...but our son and me hadn't eaten anything other than the muffin...eventually, we came to Bumbles and read down the menu...definitely a la carte, but looked really good and actually the only one that was decent...so, in we went and we were really lucky...they could fit us in without a reservation until 7.15, it was 5.15 then so we jumped at it...and to cut a long story short, the food was absolutely wonderful!...we all had different meals, our son and Ray had a starter as well, then they gave us a little glass of mushroom soup between those and the main meal which was delicious then the main meals arrived. Won't bore you with the menu, but take it that if you are ever in that area and don't mind spending a bit extra, this restaurant is a must!...the desserts were to die for...HLOL...I wasn't overloaded, but Ray was!...it was four o'clock in the morning before his stomach finally stopped feeling bloated...;) Did warn him but his eyes were definitely bigger than his stomach...especially as we had coffees afterwards and with them came four good sized dark choc truffles and five or six pieces of rice krispie ginger and caramel snaps, which he indulged in with our son...I had half a truffle and a tiny piece of the snaps and admitted defeat...HLOL...hmmm...Ray won't do that again in a hurry...
Unfortunately, today, I'm paying for not eating regularly with a sore gut again, but will get that sorted quickly by going back to regular meals again...and that's it for now....lunch calls and below here you'll find the birds and also an excellent ten minute talk this morning that
was on Radio 4 about bankers and the rich, and you'll see just how little has changed over the centuries...oh, and also discovered this rotten government is selling half their forests off to raise money...their forests!!! They're OUR forests...that's even more of our countryside that is going to end up in private hands!! That hasn't helped my gut at all...I am furious!...

8 sentinels!
